On a magnitude of 5.6, a moderate earthquake shook the San Francisco Bay area Tuesday night at 8pm, about nine miles northeast of San Jose. Residents said that the earthquake was felt as far as east Sacramento and as far as north Sonoma. The epicenter of this quake was close to Alum Rock. The U.S. Geological Survey said that there have been a minimum of 10 aftershocks, the biggest with a preliminary magnitude of 2.1.
