Spain-based telecomm Fon is now eager to beat Google and Eathlink to the punch and to wire (or unwire) the great city of San Francisco with new Wi-Fi also by giving away free routers.
The company staged a two-hour program at San Francisco's Union Square and then gave away free routers to anyone who showed up. The 802.11g routers permit its users to share their own network with anyone within reach.
