Crab Fest to Boost Travel to San Francisco in February

From SF Convention & Visitors Bureau... The Bay Area's official Dungeness crab season opened November 1 and run through the end of June, but it is February that gets local residents and visitors excited. Don your bib and squeeze a lemon and do whatever it takes to get ready for San Francisco's Crab Festival.

The month-long celebration of the Dungeness crab is now in its fourth year and the first three years of groundwork has turned a fledglingevent into a citywide celebration. The Bureau developed the Festival to drive business to the City during February, a traditionally slow month for visitors. As in the past three years, San Francisco restaurants and neighborhoods are producing crabrelated activities throughout the month.

Last year, crab-themed festivities centered around Fishermans Wharf, The Cannery, Embarcadero Center, North Beach, the Mission, Fort Mason Center and Union Square. This year, many of those same areas and neighborhoods will again be centers of activity.
