January 28th, 2011

San Francisco is both beautiful and expensive city in the world. There are so many cool things to see for free if you know where to look. There are many museums in the city that offer free admission once a month, usually on the first Tuesday or Wednesday. You can also find free performances and festivals all over the city in summer.

Museums with free admission once a month are:

  • The Asian Art Museum
  • The California Academy of Sciences
  • The Exploratorium
  • The Italian American Museum
  • The Legion of Honor

Every Sunday in the summer there is a free outdoor music concert called Stern Grove. In different parks around the city, you can also catch up with free shows by the San Francisco Mime Troupe and San Francisco Shakespeare Festival.

Other places worth visiting in San Francisco for free are botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park, Crookedest Street etc. On a nice day, you can take a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you are thinking of visiting San Francisco but worried as to how much would it cost to explore the city, there are plenty of options for travelers on budget.
