The Castro - San Francisco

The Castro became what it is now in the 1970's. It is now one of the more fun neighborhoods of San Francisco. You will find the nicest people walking around the streets of the Castro. One of the greatest highlights is the 1923 landmark, Castro Theatre at 429 Castro Street. It's a movie palace specializing in international art films and American Classics.

Today, in the Castro there is never a shortage of opportunities to people watch or engage in converstation with. Again, this is the friendliest part of town. The heart of town is 18th and Castro Streets. There are also plenty of Victorian homes and fun shops. Some of the shops can be a little edgy, so be sure to have an open mind.
