Day 2 San Francisco Tour
One of the largest collections of Asian Art in the world is hosed within this museum's monumental, imposing exterior. More than 15,000 sculptures, paintings, and ceramics from 40 countries are stored here.
Begin on the 3rd floor, where highlights of Buddhism in Southeast Asia and early China include a large, jewel-encrusted, 19th Century Burmese Buddha seated on a thrown.Later China works, as wel as pieces from Korea and Japan, fill the second floor, and the ground floor focuses on rotating collections.
Our favorite part of this museum is the tastes of Northern and Southeast Asian dishes at the bright indoor-outdoor restaurant, or attend one of the twice-monthy tea ceremonies and tastings at the Japanese Tea House.
